Jaw Pain Update 3

My jaw hasn’t improved in the 5 days I started taking 3 tablets of ibuprofen twice a day along with the warm compress. The good part is, at least the ibuprofen took away the pain, so I was able to eat food normally.

I called the dentist again and he referred me to a Dr Yoshiyoka (I think that was his name), a TMJ specialist. The earliest appointment is on the 16th.

Also, it’s going to be expensive to get my pain to go away it seems. Damn insurance companies. I read on CNN or LA Times that insurance companies use an out-of-date database (or several) to determine the cost of medical care and how much they’re going to cover. Of course, they underpay the doctors and get away with millions in their own pockets. I have to pay $350 on my first visit because I’m going to an out-of-network doctor. I asked which insurance company he’s under, because for curiosity’s sake. He’s not with any. Geez. Seriously, our health care system is broken.

Jaw Pain Update

The dentist told me to take 600 mg of ibuprofen two times a day for 5 days along with putting a warm compress on the part of my jaw that hurts twice a day for 15 minutes. If it doesn’t get better by then, then he’s going to refer me to a TMJ specialist. He also mentioned that I might have something more serious because I indicated that my muscle hurt and not the actual joint. I hope I misheard.

He also asked me if I have been under stress recently as it might have caused my jaw pain. I said, why, yes! It neatly coincided with work stress AND my mom moving back in since my dad went to Japan for a few weeks. I didn’t mention the part about my dad going to Japan and why that’s relevant since it’s a doozy to explain. But I think it was mostly my mom.

Jaw Pain

So I think I might have TMJ. My jaw on the right side hurts when I eat. I’m going to the dentist this morning to get it checked out. I was hoping it’d heal in a few weeks, but it’s still just as stiff as the morning I woke up with it. :\

Sculpting Class

Instead of going to sculpting class last week, I went to E3 parties. Tonight, I went to the sculpting class.

Since I haven’t worked in clay in ages (7 years), I felt almost like a noob. I thought someone was going to yell out, “She doesn’t know how to work in clay!!” No, no, it’s been 7 years! And I’ve never taken a sculpture class before. It’s been ceramic classes, as in non-figures. There were no live models. Still, it was very fun. Time flew and all of a sudden it was 10 PM already!

The real test comes when my piece is fired. Will it explode? Will it survive? Will it take out other sculptures?! >.<; Time will tell.

E3 2009

Today was the first day of the return to the old E3.

When I say return to the old E3, I mean a better E3 with less people and less swag.

Ok, why would less swag be better? Less trash. Not many people rushing up to get free stuff to turn into a profit on Ebay is another. Sure, free t-shirts were awesome, but they were usually large or x-large that were good for sewing practice or pajamas.

Anywho, I went with 3 of my coworkers. They had some weird competition going where they were trying to see who can take the most pictures of people with their mouths gaping open while taking a picture or video of games. Bigger the open mouth, better the points. Extra points if they were wearing a t-shirt of the game that they were photographing. Extra points for capturing the bored girlfriend in the background. I joined in on the fun. >.>; I got a few pics.

Of course, I stalked Square-Enix’s booth. Nothing devoted to FFXI like in the past. I think Final Fantasy XIV took the limelight. I saw Jyun there and we talked for a bit. I didn’t see my other SE friends.

I also saw (but didn’t play) God of War III that one of my FFXI friends is working on. It looks pretty cool. Gory. I’m not a fan of action/adventure games (cuz I suck at them), but I’ll pick it up when it comes out.

Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Wii looks cool and is fun. Must get.

Zombie Apocalypse is fun. I need to get that. Heehee. I think the guy said it was going to be on PSN and Xbox Live…

DJ Hero looks fun, too. I thought it’d be kinda cheesy, but after looking at the demonstration I’m rather warming up to it.

Checked out the PSP Go. Looks nice. I asked about how quick it can wake up from sleep. The guy seemed rather vague and BS-y when he said that he think it’s quicker on the wake up from sleep. :\ Ultimately, it’ll depend on which games there are for the console. If it doesn’t have a similarly awesome lineup like Nintendo has for the DS, I’m still not sold on it.

Also, aside from the iced coffee, I paid $0 for food. Free food at mothership’s booth. Yeay! Although the hired security guy stopped me from going in because he didn’t recognize the developer. -_- The security guy had to ask someone walking in if I was a part of the mothership. Lame. -_-

I must be getting old. I feel like 1 day is enough. It’s like TGS where I didn’t care after one day. I guess 7 years of E3 will do it.

Late Nights at Work

I’m so close to being good for the milestone. So close. Yet, I feel so far. Maybe I’m over analyzing… After this compile, I’m going to go home. Really. I’m pumped with caffeine and ready to go. Home that is. Nearing 1 AM…

I wonder how my sister is doing in Japan right now. It’s already past 4 PM over there. いいな~。

My mom is back home again. She wishes he would stay in Japan longer than 3 weeks… Says the woman who is completely dependent on the man she hates.

Bad Back. Bad Knee. Getting Old.

It started off with a bad knee. One day I noticed that it was unusually sore.

Wait. Scratch that.

It started off with a bad lower back because I kept on doing the “plank” exercise at the gym. It wasn’t bad bad. Just sore. Which I think developed into the bad back after the right knee decided that being good was all that exciting.

Now I’m icing it (which I didn’t tonight because I forgot to put the ice packs in the freezer this morning) and taking supplements. I should take regular vitamins as well. I’m also laying off the gym until at least my back is better. It’s a sign to stop working out so hard when the best I can walk resembles an old woman going yoro yoro.

Star Trek Again

I saw Star Trek for the second time on Friday with two of my friends from work. One of them got to be an extra in the movie. He didn’t tell us about it for whatever mysterious reasons. We’re not hurt. *sniff* Really, we aren’t.

Tried to get IMAX tickets, but they were sold out. Had to go with the director’s hall instead at the Bridge. The seats weren’t bad, but I didn’t feel the same level of immersion as I did while watching it on IMAX.

I also bought the Star Trek movie tie-in book. Total fangirl.

I Am a Trekkie!

Watched Star Trek this past Sunday with a group of my coworkers. It was a fun outing, even if we all sat near the back. IMAX makes it not matter anyways. The previous Sunday, a group of us decided to go watch ST in IMAX, and I was appointed the organizer. >.>; E-mail was sent out on Monday and that evening I went to the Bridge to buy our tickets. I was amazed how packed the theater was when I was picking seats. One week before opening and the theater was almost sold out. Dang, popular!

For those who wanted to grab dinner before the movie, we went to Callendar’s Grill. Service was good, food was decent. Pricing… a bit on the high side, but the wait staff was superb.

After I saw the movie, I really wanted to get the tie-in novel, but I couldn’t find any. Later on, I discovered that the tie-in novel wasn’t going to be released until Tuesday. Smart. You don’t want to have the movie spoiled by a book.
