Christmas Caroling Band Style

Tonight was the annual band christmas party. I thought I was going to be late to the caroling portion because I left my house a little before 6 PM (when it was supposed to start) and I still had to buy a white elephant gift. Lucky me, they were waiting for 4 other people. Once everyone arrived, there was more idling as they figured out where to go.

One thing I really like about christmas caroling is the people who come out from their homes to just listen to us. Never mind the fact that we’re all out of tune and it’s really cold outside. They clap, say thank you and merry christmas. It’s very nice.

Ok, so for the white elephant gift exchange I gave a box of Super Mario Bros pencils and a glow in the dark eraser. I didn’t get the perpetual gift, and as long as it’s not that, I’m perfectly fine with whatever else I receive. I got an emergency car escape kit. It has a knife to cut the seat belt, a pin to deflate the air bag, and a metal tip to use to smash the glass. Hopefully, I’ll never need to use it.

So Cold

So cold right now that I’m wearing socks and a hanten to bed. Brr! >_<

Although, I think I prefer my winters cold like this. It makes me rather uneasy watching the trees start blooming in the winter because we’re going through a heat wave.

Knitting Caps x 2

I told my coworker that I’d knit her and her sister a cap this winter. Her sister, you see, has cancer. Last year I knitted a purple version of the kitty hat. This year I thought I would make two. Something that matched as sisters. One will be a dark gray/black and the other would be a light blue. I think they would look very cute together like that.

But I’m very afraid that it might be too late.

Dodgeball Practice Again

Went to dodge ball practice again tonight. I went for only 1 hour though. Food was calling at home and I didn’t want to be eating at 11 PM at night.

I told my coworker that if any guy chucks a ball going 100 mph at my face that I would kick that person in the nuts. Luckily, no one got kicked. However, at the beginning of the 2nd hour I thought it would be a good night to go home when one of the guys on the other team started chucking balls at 100 mph at people’s heads.

I’m Back!

Tadaima! I’m back from Las Vegas! Well, I got back on Friday. Stayed only one day because my sister only wanted/needed to go home the next day. It would have been nice if I was able to see some of the shows in Vegas, but oh well. Maybe next time.

Also, I didn’t gamble. However, I did drink copious amounts of free booze. Of which I will need to go to the gym this week and work off like crazy. :(

Dodgeball Practice

I went to my first dodge ball practice. It was fun, almost like when I was a kid. Except the boys throw a lot harder now… I really don’t want to take one in the face.

There was a film crew there making a documentary about dodge ball. Somehow I ended up on the team that got to be in the documentary. Well, more like, I would stand in the back because I didn’t want to get hit, so I wasn’t tagged out. The tagged out group went off to play dodge ball like they normally do. The untagged group, which I was a part of, was to be filmed. I get to see my dorky face on TV, yeay! … >.>;

Final Fantasy XI Fan Festival 2008

Ah, Fan Fest. The time of year where I can be the geek that I am… Oh, wait… I’m always acting like a geek! XD

I took most of the day off from work on Friday to get to the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel to meet up with my friends from Allakhazam, Pikko, Thayos, and Vlorsutes. I met some new people and we all ate at CPK for a late lunch. Afterwards we went to the MTV/Rock Band store to play as a “band”. Quite fun. Pikko made a video of it and posted it on Allakhazam. It was immediately photoshopped into a motivational poster (or whatever it’s called) by someone.

The organizational level (from the attendee’s perspective) was much better than the previous year, which was much MUCH better than the year before that. There was no huge insane line. Each person got a ticket to line up at a certain time to get in. It was quite painless.

Pikko and I managed to pick up Exodus’ badge with the help of Matt Hilton. I totally owe him a drink. We gave that badge to Pikko and Thayos’ friend from Garuda since he was unable to purchase a badge when they first went on sale. (They sold out in 6 hours. Well, only 600 people attended this year’s fan fest. Seems smaller compared to last year.)

After I got my badge, Pachi arrived and lined up for his badge. By the time he arrived, most of the peopled seemed to have picked up their badges. The lines thinned by then. I was disappointed that his wife and kid didn’t make it. I was looking forward to meeting them.

For dinner, we got treated to a nice (expensive) restaurant at the outdoor mall at Hollywood and Highland by Pikko’s boss. Thank you, Pikko’s boss! Pikko and I split a meal and it was a good thing we did. The portions were HUGE! Delicious, too.

Saturday was the fan fest. I did the expected things, went to dev panels, played the demos of the game they set up. Took a ton of pictures. The creator of VGCats.com was there signing autographs and drawing pictures, so I got him to draw my character. Sweet!

Of the two demos they had going, I liked Moblin Maze Mongers much better than the Swarm. The Swarm was too mindless for my liking. I guess the meleeing isn’t very fun to me. I definitely love being a healer in a support role. Moblin Maze Mongers was very fun. I can’t wait to build my own mazes populated with insanely hard monsters. Kekeke.

Costume contest. One person dressed up their baby in a moogle jumpers. …. Cute, but trying to win with the awwww factor does not take any skill. Another person was wearing a costume from the previous year. That’s no fun either. That’s just lazy! The soulflayer (the guy with the tentacles on his face) and the mage were really good. I really liked their staves.

Finally, the piano concert. Kumi Tanioka was ever so wonderful, as usual. She’s a very happy-go-lucky person, and it definitely shows. She loves her fans, and we love her right back. ^^

There’s more griping/commenting I would like to say about the entire even, but I’m rather tired, so I’m just gonna end it here. I’m sorry if the post is rather incoherent, but I didn’t graduate as an English major so I think I’m in the clear. :P
