Yeay!! New Nikkor Lens

Dave surprised me this year. He really did! In a very happy way. ^_^ Normally, he’s not much for presents and stuff like that, so he really doesn’t try. Me on the other hand, I try. Sometimes my attempts fall flat, but it’s the thought that counts, right? ^^; So this year, he got me a lens for my SLR camera. Nikkor 70-300mm f4-f5.6 G AF lens for my Nikon D50. I can be a stalker now! ^o^ Tomorrow, I’m going to stalk Shinta, heheh. I know he won’t mind. I think I must have looked a bit unhappy, because I was completely dumbfounded. Did Dave actually put thought into it this year? NO WAY!! He asked about my camera a while back, and I didn’t really think about it. I’m just happy. Heheheh. The closest the lens will focus on is about little under 5 feet away. Perfect for stalking. And landscape photos. Hm, I think I’ll have to make a trip to… Palos Verdes or San Pedro. ^_^.v

My best friend back in high school is pregnant, due in May. She sent me an IM earlier in the week to let me know. I’m like, wow! Congratulations! I’ll have to go buy some yarn for some baby blankets and such. I know I need to make something for Varuni, her baby shower is next month! Yikes!!

Treyarch Holiday Party

Yesterday was the company holiday party. There was a dradel (sp?) man and a Santa with a slight Irish accent. Oh, and a visit to Rose’s office will yield lots of tequila. SM3 had a office decorating contest along with a tree ornament contest. I made an ornament, but I dunno if I’ll win anything. My mom and my sister came, they got there right when I had my 3rd tequila shot (4th and last drink overall) and not quite drunk yet. Yes, I became really drunk and had to get my mom to drive my car home.

My mom was very happy that she got to see my place of employment. She always thought that the company I work for was shady for making their employees work for 12 hours a day, 5 days a week. Now she knows it’s a good place, with lots of junk food. Speaking of which, I need to go to work!

Holiday Party Time

So Saturday was the annual holiday party that my friends throw. I was going to bake a pumpkin pie, but I ended up working instead. Dave bought a pie for me, but no one touched it. T_T As for the gift, I bought a Totoro tissue box holder (I thought it was a plushie) and a banana shaped bath sponge. Dave bought a humidifier. What I got in return was an iTunes music card from Bung. Bung got my gift, so that worked out. I was kinda surprised that people fought for my gift actually. I didn’t think people would want a Totoro plushie, but I think they were more interested in it for the banana sponge. >.>; Dave got DVDs of comedy movies, Naked Gun, Airplane, and something else that I’ve never heard of before.

Oh, pictures of the party are on my Flickr account.

So Tired…

I’m so tired right now. The long work hours are starting to wear me down. My eyes have been red for the past few days because of either the dry air or the fatigue. I don’t know. I think I’ll just blow dry my hair and hit the sack.

… And re-read a volume of Vampire Knight… Pufufufu… >.>;;

Returning Laura’s Books and a New Video Card

Laura needed to return her Bar Bri (Bar exam classes) book back to the school she bought them from by December 1st, so she could get her part of her money back. I offered to return it on Thursday instead of my mom returning them since it was so close to work. It would be stupid if I didn’t do it. So I drop it off and get a receipt, and when I get out of my parking spot and put the car in drive, another car backs up into me. Boo! Dave told me to honk, but it was too late. The other driver had pulled up into her parking spot, and I dunno what she was thinking because she backed right out of her spot into my car. It looks rather minor, a rubbing off of dust, so I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Of course, we exchange information. People, when you back out of a parking spot, remember, there are cars on your other side. Geez.

Now for the other part of my title. So at work, some of the guys like to play Call of Duty 2 for the PC during dinner. I like pretty much any type of multiplayer game as long as it’s with people I know…. and if it’s cheap. So I get a copy of COD2 and jump in on the fray. About 3 minutes into the frag fest, my computer all of a sudden restarts. Yikes. It’s never a good thing when the computer restarts like that. I launch COD2 again and the graphics is all messed up. >_<; I restart and try again. No go. Brian comes over and tries it in safe mode. Still nope. I launch 3D Studio Max... and it's messed up, too! Oh no!! >_<;; At this point I try to install various drivers and what not in an effort to fix the problem when I finally go to Aaron for help. He tries working his voodoo magic, and still nothing. ;_; It's dead. Now I know IT told us to be careful back when people got into Battlefield 2 because that game overheated the video cards pretty badly. Several blew out and IT told everyone that they would have to pay to replace any more damaged cards. >.>; I stopped playing after that, I didn’t want to pay for a card. I’m wondering if BF2 affected my card, but there were no symptoms until I played COD2… on a higher setting… My bad. <.<; So the next morning (right after the bumpers kissing incident mentioned earlier in this post), I get to work and find out that my computer has a new video card! Woohoo! Not only that, I got a better card! ^-^ I went from a GeForce 6600 GT to a Geforce 7950 GT. Sweet! ^_^

Vampire Knight Otaku

The return of the otaku — Return? Wait, was the otaku in me ever gone? … Don’t answer that.

I love vampires. I love vampire stories. I love good guy vampires, but not so much bad guy vampires. I love supernatural stories of any kind really, but my favorite will always be about vampires. For some strange reason (at least strange to me), I really didn’t care much for Vampire Knight when I read the first chapter in English in Shojo Beat magazine. It seemed quite interesting, but I guess it was just the wrong time. (Probably a good thing, too, because it must have been before Laura’s wedding. No one wants an otaku maid of honor at their wedding.) One of my coworkers, Mark, sends me a link about a knitted hat shaped like the head of the prince from Katamari Damacy and it turns out the pattern was in the December issue of Shojo Beat. Off I go to the bookstore like a good geek to pick up the magazine. I think during the lunch that day, we went to Nijiya/Asahiya to buy some stuff, and on a whim, I bought volume 4 of Vampire Knight because I saw it in the new manga section at Asahiya Bookstore. Unfortunately, as I was reading it I became much confuséd. Then I read chapter 6 and something major between 1 and 6 happened, *spoilers* that turned Zero into a vampire *end spoiler* and I was like, whoa!! I wanna know what happened!

And that is the otaku. Once I think, I wanna know what happened I kinda go all out nuts over it. I even dragged Dave to Anime Gamers (they had none, *sob*) and then to Kinokuniya Bookstore to get the first two books I was missing, since I got volume 3 from the Torrance Asahiya. Of course, I have all 4 volumes and currently desperate for more… must get Monthly Lala… >.>;;

Happy Tofurky Day!

Stephanie sent me a text message that said Happy Tofurky Day. I thought it was funny. ^_^

So for dinner, my mom and I made some chirashizushi and then stuffed it into some inari to make some oinarisan. It was very yummy. :9

I also cleaned my bath tub today, it was getting quiet nasty and needed a good scrubbing down. I think it still needs some more work. I also cleaned the bathroom floor since that was pretty gross, too. Next I need to finish cleaning the countertop.

Road Detours Galore… *(@#$!!

This past weekend, a water pipe broke underneath Western Avenue south of the 405 entrance. It was patched, but it seems it broke again last night. Nice! So when I took my Western route to work, I had to take a detour and that kinda sucked. On my way home from work, more detours, yippee!! >_<; The 405 South ramp from the 10 East was closed so I ended up exiting Robertson because there was a long long for the National exit. Ugh. Then when I tried to get to the Venice and Sawtelle 405 South entrance, I found out that ramp was closed, too! Good old Culver entrance was still open. And that was my adventure for the day. Election Day tomorrow. I'm so nervous. Ugh.
